A Tipple for Your Tickle - Cold & Flu

Fantastic recipes for Cold & Flu

Guest post by Beth McDonald.

As we head into the depths of winter we all know what’s ahead of us. Long, cold nights, shorter days and of course the inevitable germs that pass from kid to parent, parent to kid. We have months of endless coughs and sniffles no matter how prepared we are, it’s just part of the season.

If you are suffering from these germs, this little healthy home recipe is a great one you can use for anyone in the home (if you throw in something a little stronger). The honey soothes a cough, the cloves are a great natural way to numb any pain in the mouth or throat and of course lemon and hot water will give you a boost of vitamin C while warming you up.

Soothing Lemon drink

You’ll need:

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 cup hot water

  1. Dissolve the honey into the boiling water
  2. Add in the cloves and some lemon juice
  3. Taste and add more honey if needed to sweeten
  4. Cut a lemon slice for serving in the mug

This healthy home remedy will be a great tipple for you this winter – little and big people will enjoy the tastes and the all natural ingredients will help fight those germs.

And of course the best place to enjoy this drink is in the winter sunshine. If you can get outside and get some vitamin D on your back, some fresh air in your lungs you will make yourself feel so much better…just with this simple trick. Promise!
